Here are the times of day for anytime/peak, shoulder, off peak and controlled load tariffs.
Energy pricing is mainly set by two inputs that are most affected by different pricing at different times of day. Here are the times.
Anytime - all regions
We'll start with the simple one. With Anytime, you'll pay the same number of cents per kWh at every time of day and day or week. Some retailers call this 'peak only'.

Peak:
From 2pm to 8 pm on working weekdays during 1 November and 31 March (inclusive) – the “summer months”; and
From 5pm to 9pm on working weekdays during 1 June to 31 August (inclusive) – the “winter months”.
Shoulder:
In simple terms, the shoulder period applies from 7am to 10pm every day, except where a peak period applies during that period.
Specifically, it applies:
- from 7am to 10pm on all weekends and public holidays
on working weekdays in the summer months:
- from 7am to 2pm; and from 8pm to 10pm
on working weekdays in the winter months:
- from 7am to 5pm; and from 9pm to 10pm
- on working weekdays in spring and autumn, from 7am to 10pm.
Off Peak:
All other times, 10pm to 7am
NSW, Endeavour Energy region

Controlled Load - all regions
Controlled loads are metered separately and the time of supply are usually determined by your local distributor. They're normally used for fixed appliances such as electric hot water.
NSW, Ausgrid region
Controlled load 1 Tariff EA030: Supply is usually available for at least 6 hours duration within any 24 hour period – 7am to 7am.
Controlled load 2 Tariff EA040: Supply is usually available for at least 16 hours within any 24 hour period – 7am to 7am including more than 4 hours between 7 am and 5 pm.
NSW, Endeavour region
Controlled load 1 Tariff N50: Supply may not be available between 7:00am and 10:00pm, during both Eastern Standard Time (EST) and Daylight Saving Time (DST)
Controlled load 2 Tariff N54: Electricity is available for restricted periods not exceeding a total of 17 hours in any period of 24 hours.
NSW, Essential region
Controlled load 1 Tariff BLNC1AU: Flat rate with supply made available between 5 to 9 hours overnight on weekdays and extra hours on weekends except where the load is controlled by a time clock – c/kWh
Controlled load 2 Tariff BLNC2AU: Flat rate with supply made available between 10 to 19 hours per day on weekdays and extra hours on weekends – c/kWh
QLD, Energex region
Controlled Load 1 (Super Economy, Tariff 31, Tariff Code 9000): Supply available for a minimum of 8 hours per day (around 10pm-7am)
Availability times may alter depending on the current needs of the electricity network.
Controlled load 2 Economy, Tariff 33, Tariff Code 9100): Supply available for a minimum of 18 hours per day (usually outside 4pm-9pm)
SA, SA Power region
Basic Meter (Type 5, 6)
Controlled Load Timings: Time clock is managed by SA Power Networks, and typically involves supply usage between 11:00pm to 7:00am and from 10:00am to 3:00pm

Controlled load 1: (Overnight Only): 23:30pm – 06:30am ACST
Controlled load 2: (Overnight + Solar Sponge): 23:30pm – 06:30am & 9:30am – 15:30pm ACST
