If you've recently lost someone close to you, we understand that this can be an emotional and challenging time, and we offer our sincere condolences.

We know that dealing with energy accounts may be the last thing on your mind so we want to provide you with a straightforward process to update or close your loved one’s account.

Notify the Australian Death Notification Service (ADNS):

To streamline the process, you can use the Australian Death Notification Service (ADNS) to let us know. This is a secure and national service from the Government that’s designed to notify multiple organisations about the passing of the account holder to simplify the administrative burden.

To notify Energy Locals and other organisations through the ADNS, please visit the Australian Death Notification Service website and provide the following details:

  • Details of the deceased person

  • Confirmation that you wish to notify Energy Locals

  • Your contact information as the notifier

The ADNS will validate the details against the Australian Death Check (ADC) and forward the information to our dedicated team, who will promptly reach out to you to assist with your request.

If you don’t wish to contact the ADNS

While we recommend using the ADNS, if you’d prefer to speak with us directly, please contact our Aussie-based team on 1300 693 637 or at hello@energylocals.com.au 8:30am – 6pm Monday to Friday AET. When contacting us, please have the following details ready:

  • Your name

  • Your contact details

  • Your email address

  • Relationship to deceased

  • Action taken/required
